The English Channel - The Mount Everest of Swimming

For more than a century, swimmers have looked across the English Channel and seen more than 21 miles of cold and unpredictable water, which also happens to be the world's busiest shipping channel. They’ve seen a challenge worth taking on, despite the high risk of failure. That’s why it’s often called the Mount Everest of Swimming.

In this episode of Durare, we explore the long history of this incredible test of endurance and discuss what it takes to prepare for it. We also detail the physical and mental battles that must be fought to make it to the other side.

Swimming the English Channel is about much more than just crossing from one shore to another. It’s about discovering how deep you’re willing to dig to reach your goal.
